In the poems "Big Yellow Taxi" and "Field Below", the respective authors show a concern for nature, since every building requires empty space to be built, and most of that space is previously unharmed nature. The tone that the poems seem to have is one of sadness and longing, simply wishing that nature would be brought back. It makes the reader feel pity for the authors. It also really emphasizes that you don't know what you have until it's gone, meaning that we don't really respect nature, but when it's gone, we miss it.
The song version of "Field Below" in right on par with the poems and keeps a sad tone that crates a mood of pity in listeners. However, the song version of "Big Yellow Taxi" is more upbeat than it should be and makes you want to dance rather than do something about nature disappearing.
