4/27/11 - Ranger's Apprentice - Book One: The Ruins of Gorlan

Authors Note: This is my first response to my book, and it may not be the best because I am not far in the book yet, and therefore, do not have much information yet. Please enjoy.

So far my book, Ranger's Apprentice, is very interesting. The main character Will is trying to get into battleschool because although no one is quite sure who his parents were, he knows that his father died a great hero, and Will wanted to follow in his footsteps. His mother died during birth, and he was left on the doorstep of the castle when he was very young. He then became a castle ward, despite his small stature. He was very agile, and from years of getting into places he wasn't supposed to be, Will could cross an open field right in front of a guard at night, without being seen. Although he was not fit for battleschool, like his roommate Horace, nor was he fit for any other professions that were available, like his other roommates, Jenny, George, or Alyss. But Halt, the Ranger, saw something in him, and wrote it down on a slip of paper, which was given to the Baron. The Baron said he would think over what was written on the note, and Will decided he just had to know what was on that slip of paper. At the point where I left off, Will was scaling a tower, trying to reach the Baron's room.
